The Parish Youth Association (PYA) is the official organization of young people in the parish who are united in their love for Christ and the Church, and who actively participate in its mission through faith formation, service, leadership, and community building.

Purpose and Role
The Parish Youth Association:

Serves as the umbrella organization for all youth groups or ministries in the parish

Acts as the voice and representation of the youth in parish programs and councils
-
Provides formation and opportunities for spiritual growth, leadership, and mission
Objectives of PYA

Form youth in the Catholic faith and promote Christian values in everyday life.

Foster unity and collaboration among all youth groups and chapel youth cells.

Develop leadership skills and encourage active participation in parish liturgy and outreach.

Promote vocation awareness and the call to holiness.

Engage in community service, social action, and youth empowerment programs.
Structure of PYA

Spiritual Director: Appointed by the parish priest (usually the youth ministry coordinator or assistant)

Constitution and By-Laws
Parish Youth Association (PYA)
Immaculate Conception Parish, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur
PREAMBLE
We, the Catholic youth of Immaculate Conception Parish, Cantilan, united in faith and mission, form this association to deepen our love for God and neighbor, grow in Christian leadership, and become active participants in the life and mission of the Church. Guided by the Holy Spirit and inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves to this Constitution and By-Laws.
ARTICLE I – NAME
The name of the organization shall be the Parish Youth Association (PYA) of Immaculate Conception Parish, Cantilan. Surigao del Sur.
ARTICLE II – VISION AND MISSION
Vision:
A community of vibrant, committed, and Christ-centered youth, actively engaged in the life and mission of the Church.
Mission:
To empower young people through worship, formation, fellowship, and service, enabling them to become living witnesses of the Gospel in the Church and society.
ARTICLE III – OBJECTIVES

Promote the spiritual and moral formation of the youth.

Foster active participation in the liturgy, sacraments, and parish life.

Provide leadership development opportunities.

Unite chapel-based and parish-wide youth efforts.
-
Promote social responsibility and Christian service.
-
Support vocation awareness and discernment.
ARTICLE IV – MEMBERSHIP
-
Membership is open to all Catholic youth aged 13 to 30 in the parish.

Members must actively participate in PYA activities and formation.
-
Membership may be individual or through chapel/BEC youth groups.
-
Members are encouraged to receive the sacraments regularly and live a Christian life.
ARTICLE V – STRUCTURE AND OFFICERS

B. Spiritual Director:
A priest or lay pastoral worker assigned by the parish priest.
C. Election:

Officers shall be elected by majority vote every two years.
-
Must be in good standing and active for at least one year.
-
No officer may serve more than two consecutive terms in the same position.
ARTICLE VI – COMMITTEES

Liturgy Committee – Organizes youth Masses, prayers, and spiritual activities.

Formation Committee – Plans Bible studies, talks, and recollections.

Service Committee – Coordinates outreach, volunteer efforts, and social action.

Arts and Culture Committee – Handles music, drama, and creative events.
-
Sports Committee – Promotes sportsmanship, physical health, and youth bonding.
ARTICLE VII – MEETINGS

Regular meetings are held once a month.
-
Emergency meetings may be called by the President or Spiritual Director.
-
A quorum consists of 50% + 1 of active officers and representatives.
ARTICLE VIII – FUNDS AND FINANCE
-
Funds may come from donations, fundraising, and parish subsidies.
-
The Treasurer shall submit financial reports quarterly.
-
All financial activities must be transparent and approved by the core group.
ARTICLE IX – AMENDMENTS
Any proposed amendment must be submitted in writing and approved by two-thirds (2/3) of the active members present during a regular meeting.
ARTICLE X – DISSOLUTION
In case of dissolution, all assets shall be turned over to the Parish Finance Council, and records submitted to the parish office.
